Dell Inc. has issued a recall of certain laptop batteries sold between April 1, 2004, and July 18, 2006, and has provided a list--sorted by Department--of laptops purchased by Cal Poly during this period. Replacement batteries for machines on the list have been received and distributed.
Note that if a laptop was ordered with more than one battery, Dell has no records of the second battery. Replacement requests for the second battery only will need to be submitted via the regular process on Dell's website (here) and was not included in the bulk shipment.
If your laptop does not appear on the list provided by Dell, you may wish to check Dell's website here to independently verify battery qualifications and follow procedures listed on Dell's site to request replacement.
